My First Menstrual Period- Sharon

As a young girl in primary seven, I experienced a significant milestone that marked my transition into womanhood: my first menstrual period. It arrived unexpectedly, catching me off guard with its arrival. Lasting only one to two days, it vanished as mysteriously as it came, leaving me to wonder when it would return.

Despite the initial surprise, I didn’t feel scared. Instead, I felt a sense of pride wash over me, recognizing that I had entered a new phase of my life. This was a momentous occasion, symbolizing the beginning of a journey into womanhood.

Fortunately, my school provided valuable support and education on menstruation. Always pads trainers visited our school regularly, conducting sensitization sessions on how to handle periods with confidence and dignity. These sessions empowered me and my classmates with knowledge about menstrual hygiene, ensuring that we were well-prepared for this natural aspect of womanhood.

Although my first period was brief and followed by months of absence, it served as a powerful reminder of the changes happening within my body. With the support of my school and the confidence instilled in me, I embraced this milestone with pride, ready to navigate the journey of womanhood with grace and resilience.
